We were sitting in class as normal on Friday the 13th of January when Mr Cahill our principal knocked on Mr Dermody’s door and asked if he could bring in a visitor… Little did we know he was talking about the Heineken Cup!
We were all very excited and took turns holding it. None of us could get over how heavy it was. The man travelling around with the Cup was named Paddy Curran and he works with the IRFU. He told told us that it weighs 13 pounds and is made of solid silver with gold embedded in the front for all the countries of Europe. It really is an impressive trophy and we were all excited to hold it.
Some of the teachers were slagging each other as Leinster are the current holders but lots of the teachers support Munster, especially Mr Gleeson! We all agreed that it is great to have the trophy in our country no matter who won it. Here’s hoping that one of the Irish teams can win it again this year and we might get to see it again.
