Coláiste Mhuire has a staff of over thirty teachers with an additional three Special Needs Assistants.  There is a balance of both experience and youth, which the students benefit from immensely.  Indeed, the standard of teaching at Coláiste Mhuire was highly commended in the school’s recent Whole School Evaluation in May 2008.  (See WSE Report for further details)

Furthermore, Coláiste Mhuire has a proud tradition of incorporating trainee teachers in most subjects at Junior Cycle.  This ensures that both staff and students are kept abrest of the ever-increasing advances in teaching styles and strategies, coupled with the incorporation of Information Technology into the classroom.

These trainee teachers come from a variety of third level institutes, such as the University of Limerick  (for subjects such as Woodwork, Metal Work, Technical Graphics, Physical Education and Music), Mater Dei Institute of Education (for Religion & English), St Angela’s College (for Home Economics) and the Tipperary Institute and St. Patrick’s College Thurles (for Business Studies & Religion).

Coláiste Mhuire is proud of the high number of past pupils who themselves have embarked on a career in teaching, due in no small part to the linkages we have developed with the leading providers of teacher training in the country.
