Leaving Cert Applied

Since 2006, Coláiste Mhuire has offered the LCA programme as an alternative to the Traditional Leaving Cert.  This programme offers most of the Traditional Subjects listed above but with a more practical focus.  Students complete subjects on a module basis that combines continuous assessment, projects, interviews and end of term exams.  There is also a Work Experience element (One Day a Week) coupled with Vocational Preparation.

The first graduates of this course were in 2008 and they have enjoyed success in receiving apprenticeships, entering employment and pursuing further education through P.L.C.s.  For further information on LCA, please contact the programme co-ordinator Mr Martin Gleeson.

For their ICT Task in 2011-12, one group chose to post all LCA activities during Session 3 Year 2 on the school website.  This involved typing up reports on each activity and taking photos where possible.  The students involved in this project are Ellen Delaney, Tom Lanigan & Martin Dunne.  Click on the links below to read their posts.  We hope you enjoy reading them as much as they did completing them!
